Flight information is a key tool for any ground handler and their support company partners, the problem is obtaining certified real-time information. Resource planning systems require a constant data stream to ensure projected resource plans can be used in the real-time environment without manual intervention.

The problem in many airport environments is that planning data is not kept up to date, which does not allow the manpower shifts to adjust to compensate for the reduction in revenue.

Handling agents have in house flight information systems that are used to run their operation, airport authorities have flight information systems for displaying passenger information and their own resource planning data, the problem th smaller on and off airport companies have is that they require a mixture of multi handling agent flight information without the need to have a dedicated screen for each.

The solution required is a community managed database containing trusted carrier flight schedules, accurately delivering information to allow 12 to 18 month planning and budget writing. Each customer running a business from the airport authority to cleaners, fuellers, caterer, hoteliers, transport companies, freight forwarders, luggage couriers etc would use this wireless service.

Coupled with the planning information, real time, multi agent information would also be available, configured to suit the individual company's requirements. For example, a cleaning company would require stand and aircraft registration information whereas a taxi company would only require status times.

I propose to 'project manage' delivering such a solution by facilitating working group participation in order to bring together all the interested parties, airport authorities, system providers, as well as the community users to reduce real time cost and ensure businesses have the best possible opportunity of surviving the credit crisis.
